How did the stars align for 'This Love'?

I knew 'This Love' was the first song I wanted to release as my debut single as I felt lyrically it was a song that listeners could relate to, the stars really did align as this was the first time in my life where I chose to put myself first to pursue my passion for music and songwriting, at this time I was truly grateful to collaborate with my producer Reese Szabo. My hope with all my songs is that they leave the listeners feeling empowered and inspired, and 'This Love' to me is a song about going through the journey of emotions that you can experience in the process of opening your heart to someone. I have tried to draw on my own personal experiences to help the song have my own authentic tone. I did this by expressing feelings of  confliction, uncertainty, pain and connection that I hope people can resonate with in the track.

"I'll wait for a moment to show me the truth that is hiding". Is that a good way of describing your songwriting pocess?

Yes I do feel music provides a creative outlet for me where I can connect deeply with myself and with others, the songwriting process allows my thoughts and emotions to be harnessed in a therapeutic way. In other words, when I experience personal hardships, I choose to use my experienced pain as inspiration, and turn it into something beautiful through the power of creating music.

What does sharing your music provide?

Gratitude. I'm grateful that I have this opportunity to share my songs and my voice with people across the world, as we live in a digitally interconnected time where the music industry is constantly evolving, I'm excited to bring my unique artistry to the world at this moment, and I hope that I can be a positive artist in this space. To share my music gives me the confidence to grow as an individual and as an artist alike. Giving me a belief that the music that I release will be of value to others and keeps me passionate about continuing down the road of being a solo female singer-songwriter.

You mentioned this as your debut single but while this song marks a new chapter for you and your artistry you've been making music for a much longer time?

I started singing and performing from the age of six, my earliest memories are growing up in household where music was always played and celebrated. I was that child who never stopped singing, performing and dancing for my family and friends. My dad is a music enthusiast and loves rock n’ roll, and from him I was introduced to and encouraged to sing a wide range of musical genres. It was my grandfather who took me to my singing lessons and was my biggest supporter. Since then I have been professionally gigging for over a decade in Australia and have performed at many venues, corporate events and weddings like most singers starting out their careers. I usually performed with a guitarist as a duo. The recent release of ‘This Love’ signals the beginning of my artistic evolution into becoming  Georgia Blu and I intend to record, release and tour more music under this name.

What has changed and what remains the same within this new all new chapter?

My passion for music, singing and performing most definitely remains strong. Georgia Blu is the evolution from working for so long as a cover artist, and performing other people’s music in a duo, to now remaining true to myself as an artist, while also never forgetting the musical influences who inspired me in the first place to become a singer. When recording and performing my original music I try to still incorporate and pay tribute to those artists in my performances and songs.

Both you and your music have this vibe that seems a bit out of time. From new to old, what music do you love and maybe feel most connected to?

When it comes to music, I do consider myself to be an old soul. I am inspired by music and artists from the sixties, seventies. And eighties, and I love a wide range of genres, including the blues, soul, rock and roll and even pop ballads, some dance music of the nineties is also in my musical DNA including Kylie Minogue and Madison Avenue. Artists like Stevie Nicks or Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles and Eric Clapton are all mentionable here but there are countless others. Current artists closer to this time include Delta Goodrem, Sara Bareilles, Adele. They are all people I am inspired by for their songwriting.

Will we get more love stories in your songwriting?

Yes, love is a common theme in my songwriting. The strongest area of musical inspiration for me comes from my heart. Although I would place myself in a lighter genre, almost pop, I sing from the heart to give my tracks the depth and the resonance they require to be more lasting and meaningful to the lister and for myself, this puts my music category somewhere between pop and a ballad. My songs currently are about love, relationships, heartbreak and finding inner strength as these are the lessons I have learnt as an artist so far. As I evolve so will my music and I hope that followers of my music will enjoy the evolution of Georgia Blu.

I said earlier that music is the medium though which I connect with myself and with others. It is my hope that followers of my music will appreciate my songs and the messages of hope and inspiration that can be found within them. My songs are focused on the feelings associated with the exploration of love and as a result I think many people can relate to the music.

This one go hand in hand with a lovely music video?

Thank you, I was quite nervous to make the music video for ‘This Love’ because I had never done anything like that before however, I absolutely enjoyed the whole process. Storytelling is most definitely dear to my heart, whether it’s through songwriting and performing and as a result, it was an important factor when making the music video for ‘This Love’. In order to do the song justice and bring the song to life an integral part was to capture all the emotions of the song in the music video and this proved to be challenging but also rewarding. I do feel I was able to do this with key images, visuals and the strategic use of scenery. I feel the video captured the themes of the song well and I was happy with the result. And moving forward I hope to make music videos that tell both the story of the song, but also highlights my growth as an artist.

I think your music is absolutely magic where we are. Are you good at taking the moment to appreciate where you are right now. Acknowledging the love you already have around you in your life?

Thank you so much. That means a lot to me! I am glad that you have been able to appreciate and understand me. My music is a reflection of my soul, and you have beautifully addressed me as an emerging artist. At this point in my life I've really committed myself to the musical journey and am in the process of exploring the opportunities that are presented to me. I feel the time is now for me to take my music to the next level and my hopes and dreams are that my songs will resonate with people around the world, and could provide me with the opportunity to travel.

At this point in my life I'm surrounded by family and friends who are fully supportive of my choices but I look forward to building a network of professionals who are just as supportive in bringing my musical dreams to life as, currently, I am releasing my music independently which is challenging and slow.

I do everything in my life with a passion and thus when it comes to music I feel as though I must give my all vocally in the required moments of a song to change it from an easy listening experience to a memorable moment for the audience. This is a skill I hope to further develop as I evolve as a writer and performer through collaborating with other artists.
