LULLABEE TALKS GET OVER YOU
"I was still trying to figure myself out"

It was just this October, five months ago or so, that you debuted with your first ever single. But you, really, have been singing since you were very young?
A very young age! My parents said I could sing before I talked (laughs). I loved to sing at the back of the car, often listening to my parents CD’s. I remembered every single lyric of 'Can’t Get You Out Of My Head' from Kylie's album 'Fever'.
There’s something very grounded and personal about your writing, even within this energetic, dance-driven sound. This feels especially true on your new song, 'Get Over You'. What did you want to convey with it?
Thank you. It means a lot! It’s a delve into the dynamics of being in your early twenties and how our society navigates escapism in today's era. It's really intriguing, and scary because of the accessibility of smartphones, social media, dating apps, and other distractions that help us avoid loneliness and seek outer validation.
Is your songwriting a way of confronting rather than escaping?
You could say so. I think I prefer confronting my feelings in my writing. Being dyslexic, I tend to have a big picture of my feelings and scenarios around me which serves as a valuable asset in expressing myself artistically.
Is there another artist you feel has that same kind of elevated groundedness?
Kate Bush!
Do you tend to write when things are still going on in your life?
Yeah definitely, I usually write from personal experiences, surroundings, and feelings.
Does listening back take you back to when you wrote the songs?
When I listen back to the music I've created it definitely takes me back to those moments of time, also how much my writing and direction has changed over the years.
When was it that you wrote these three singles so far?
The first two songs 'Obsession' and 'Home' I had written about three years ago and have only released them six months ago which is crazy. I don’t think I felt ready to release back then. I was still trying to figure out my sound and myself as an artist.
With three songs out, what future are you composing?
My music direction has changed from my first two singles in terms of being more electronic and pop. I can guarantee more new music to come and I am super excited to share with you all!
