What was the start of Ikini. What was the vision and the vibe that led you to create your own swimwear brand and this first wave of selections?
From the very start, our vision was to create a brand centered around inclusivity, high quality and premium materials all proudly designed in Sweden and manufactured in Europe. We want to build a warm, family-like community where the vibe is constantly welcoming, authentic and relatable. This community is part of a complete lifestyle concept that covers everything you need for your journey. From the flight directly down to the beach, the pool or the beach club. It’s a feel of affordable luxury, where the touch of the fabric and the details of the design truly reflect the essence of European craftsmanship. We are only getting started, swimwear was just the beginning as we plan to launch accessories, clothing and more!
Has fashion always been an interest in your life?
To be completely honest, no. It’s an interest that truly grew on me over time, specifically when it comes to “lifestyle” fashion. Because of my love for travel, swimwear, beachwear and “everyday pieces” became a natural passion. It turned into a desire to create functional, beautiful pieces for the active, sun-seeking lifestyle I love.
Designed in Sweden, and crafted in Europe, in everything from fabrics to mindset, how does that blend between its Scandinavian and the European side come through?
It’s a beautiful balance of two worlds. The Scandinavian side brings that clean, minimalist aesthetic, effortless functionality and amindful approach to design. The European craftsmanship brings unparalleled quality, rich textures and a touch of effortless, nostalgic elegance. Together, it creates swimwear that feels both timelessly chic and incredibly well made perfect for a slow day on the French Riviera ora crisp summer morning by the Swedish coast.
Closely tied to both confidence and self-expression alike, great swimwear is about more than just fit. What do you hope the women in Ikini-Swimwear feel?
We want women to feel entirely comfortable in their own skin, radiating an effortless and natural confidence. Swimwear should never make you feel restricted or self-conscious, it should elevate how you already feel. When you put on an Ikini swimwear-piece, we hope you feel empowered, free to move and beautiful exactly as you are.
As Swedes, summer is just something that means a little extra. What is a defining summer moment that really captures what “summer” personally means for you?
In Sweden, we chase the sun because we wait for it so long, which makes every summer moment feel incredibly precious. For me, it’s those endless, golden summer nights where the sun barely sets. It’s the feeling of warm sun on your skin after a refreshing dip in the sea, packing a beach bag with friends. And just letting the day roll by, without any schedule. That pure, uncomplicated freedom is what summer is all about.
What are your go to looks between swim spots?
My go to look is definitely activewear, effortless dresses, and relaxed lounge-wear pieces you can just throw on over a bikini.
Do you see pieces like these from Ikini someday, as well, as you expand beyond swimwear, into other clothing and accessories?
Our ultimate dream and our long term goal is absolutely for Ikini to expand into a full lifestyle concept. We want to offer those perfect “in-between” pieces, eventually, so that you can live your entire summer wardrobe through the Ikini universe.
What destinations in and out of Ikini Swimwear are you planning for, this summer?
This summer is all about chasing the European sun! The itinerary is packed with dream destinations like the South of France, Portugal, Italy, and Spain. We can't wait to see Ikini-Swimwear in its right element, salty skin, beautiful beaches and vibrant European backdrops.
