SID NOELLE TALKS ADJOINING
"I want to be fully immersed in the stories"

Interviewed by Culture Coast Talks editor Daniel John. Interview transcripts might have been edited for length and clarity.
In ‘Adjoining,’ a couple’s motel stay takes a chilling turn when they discover they’re being observed, leading to unexpected consequences. What was it about playing hotel-manager Chloe that made you take a peek?
I was so excited to be a part of 'Adjoining', it has a unique way of exploring people's fantasies and desires. I really enjoy characters that challenge my personal point of view and perspectives. It’s so important to approach your characters from a place of curiosity and not to judge them. I was so excited to explore the backstory and reasons for why Chloe is the way she is.
You got to celebrate with a premiere at ScreamFest?
It was truly an incredible night! It is always a little nerve-racking to have others watch your work and get to see their reactions in real time. I'm so proud of the film and experiencing it alongside other creatives and horror fans was really rewarding.
Would you say you personally are a fan of the genre?
Honestly I used to be terrified of anything with even an ounce of horror or thrill in it, which is so funny because I have acted in so many projects within the horror and thriller genres. I think having the opportunity to become a part of this genre has completely changed my feelings about it. I now love it, and really am inspired by how smart and talented the creators of these projects have to be to ace it!
When did you know that acting was the path for you?
I actually was a singer before getting into acting and I went to a performing arts high school back in Chicago for singing, but after my first year of attending the school, I realized I didn't have the passion and drive for singing. My family had tried to convince me to try acting ever since I was little, but I always denied any interest in it. After I realized I didn't have the drive to be a professional singer, I decided I might as well try acting. And, well, I fell in love with it instantly and had all the drive and passion to dive in head first!
Does your process for getting into character change from role to role or do you have a consistent method?
My practice and method definitely changes depending on the role and project. I always like to start with reading the script from an audience point of view, I want to be fully immersed in the stories to better understand the impact of the characters and themes.
How do you approach self-love and grace in the inbetween moments when the path forward isn't so clear?
Self-love and grace are things that every creative artist, no matter what field they are in, has to learn. I think I have learned over the years to trust in my craft and lean into my love for it. Especially when things are slow in the industry, it can feel like you have no control over your career. I make sure to prioritize other areas of my life that bring me joy, so that I am not just focused on when I will be on set next.
What do you hope you will get to do next. What are stories and roles you would not mind making your business?
I love coming of age stories, being able to relate to a character on screen can be so empowering. I would also be interested in doing something in the fantasy realm and exploring a character from a completely different world, I think, would be a fun challenge! But honestly, I’m open to anything!
Do you think that there's room for more nightmares among your dream roles?
Oh definitely! This genre allows many important topics to be viewed through a lens so many people can understand! I actually have a few scripts I’ve been writing and working on in this genre that I’m hoping to develop into short films this year.
